The Board of Directors of Vaughan & Bushnell Mfg. Co. have appointed Charles Vaughan as President/COO, effective January 1. Charlie, 36, is 5th generation Vaughan to be named president. Howard A. Vaughan Jr., president of Vaughan for over 40 years, will remain Chairman/CEO.

New Smoke-Rated ICU/CCU Door System Offered In A Telescoping Design

The first telescoping ICU/CCU door system offered in a UL certified smoke-rated design, this new door series from Horton Automatics introduces a wider range of architectural options and greatly enhances accessibility in patient rooms.

With its telescoping function and full break-out capability, this door package can provide up to 80 inches of clear opening width. The system is available in custom sizes from 7-ft to 12-ft rough openings and is trackless to simplify installation and maintain a smooth floor surface. Each unit has positive latching handles for added safety and includes a superior smoke seal. The gasket design increases smoke protection exceeding requirements of UL 1784 and NFPA standard 105 for the ultimate in patient safety.

Besam Now Offering Smoke Seals for ICU/CCU Sliding Door System

Besam Entrance Solutions, the global leader in automatic door technology, is excited to offer smoke seals for its standard 2- and 4-panel ICU doors. Smoke seals are becoming a prevalent requirement in many hospital specifications and applications and provide a barrier between the elements and possible gaps in a door package. The gaps between a door leaf and its frame are essential for everyday operation but they form an area of vulnerability for the passage of smoke and flames in a fire situation. The seals are used for their ability to greatly reduce smoke infiltration, positive or negative air pressures and airborne infectious diseases. Effective smoke seals provide protection all around the door, including the threshold. As well as providing a barrier to the smoke, the smoke seals also offer an additional level of insulation. The seals are tested for smoke and air infiltration per UL1784 section 7.1 & 7.2 and ANSI/NFPA – Standard for the Installation of Smoke Door Assemblies.

Leviton to Acquire ControlThink
