Atrium Companies, Inc., Hires New Central Region President

Atrium Companies, Inc. has hired Arthur Steinhafel to serve as its new central region president. In his new position, Steinhafel will oversee all regional window business activities for Atrium's central region facilities. Steinhafel joins Atrium's regional leadership team of Pete Venerdi, western region president, and Bob Ractliffe, eastern region president.

New BrightBlue by Schlage

Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies will launch its new BrightBlue by Schlage web-based access control system at the ISC West Conference in April. Edge Integration Systems Changes its Name

Effective Jan 1, 2008, Edge Integration Systems, Inc. announced that it has officially changed its name to Reach Systems, Inc. All ownership, personnel, offices and products of the company remain the same. The Edge ACS and EdgeWeb hosted software platform represent a critical industry turning point in the way access control services are provided. Edge solutions allow security integrators and their central stations to provide value-added services and monitoring for their clients - earning recurring revenue while building lifelong customer relationships. The Edge ACS has now become the Reach Access Control System (Reach ACS). The web hosted software platform, EdgeWeb, is now called ReachNet. The new company website is www.reachsystems.com. Donald Trump is counting on four $40,000 flood-proof sliding doors to keep the Atlantic Ocean out of the basement of his proposed Jones Beach, NY restaurant and catering hall. The four, 4-inch-thick flood doors that Trump and partner Steve Carl would install would be made by Presray. The company has installed several thousand of them over the past six decades. Made of aluminum, steel or stainless steel, the doors have inflatable bladders on each side to seal out the water. Martin Door Manufacturing has been recognized by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for its part in a federal energy savings program. Pella Corp. has announced plans to close its manufacturing plant in Story City, IA. The company that makes windows and doors will close the plant in March, affecting 244 employees. The company says the move is in response to decreased demand for building materials, reported KMEG13.com. Full Story

SNE Enterprises is closing its doors in Huntington, WV, putting 130 employees out of work. The manufacturing plant makes vinyl windows and patio doors for homes, and had been located at the Huntington Industrial Park for 10 years, reported the Charleston Daily Mail. Full Story

Laminations, part of Great Northern Corporation's Specialty Group, has introduced UChannel, a new three-sided edge protection product designed to protect windows and doors, as part of its VBoard line of sustainable packaging solutions. UChannel is laminated paperboard manufactured with a single-piece seamless construction that can be formed to provide a wide variety and range of base widths and leg heights.
