DORMA Names New Technical Services Representative

DORMA Architectural Hardware has named Jerome "Jerry" Andrews, CML, as Technical Services Representative to provide support for DORMA Architectural Hardware products. Andrews' focus will be on DORMA's complete line of mortise, cylindrical and deadbolt locks.

Having held positions as a locksmith, lockshop owner, sales representative and product manager, Andrews brings more than 35 years of security industry experience to DORMA Architectural Hardware. A Certified Master Locksmith he has taught master keying and interchangeable core for many years.

His textbook Fundamentals of Master Keying is used by trade schools throughout the U.S. and Canada. He has also written numerous articles for industry publications. He resides in Cleveland, OH.

Bilco's Type TER and TRD Doors Keep Workers Safe Between Floors

Floor doors are often installed in commercial buildings to provide safe access for maintenance and emergency personnel to areas below or between building floors. In many cases, these doors are installed in areas where they are surrounded by attractive, architectural-finished flooring materials. The Home Depot Inc.'s chief executive said Mar. 22 that the company still has not decided what to do with its wholesale distribution arm, despite its announcement in February that it was considering selling the unit. CEO Frank Blake said at a Merrill Lynch retailing conference that the chain is simply considering alternatives for Home Depot Supply. "We have not decided one way or another what to do with the supply business," Blake said. Full Story

Joseph F. LaForce, 84, founder of LaForce Inc., died March 29 in Palm City, FL. LaForce founded LaForce Inc., the Green Bay-based distributor of doors, frames and hardware. The company, founded more than 50 years ago, is one of the country’s largest distributors of commercial doors and hardware as well as being a manufacturer of steel doors and frames, reported the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
