SARGENT® Offers Intelligent Wireless Access Control with the Profile Series v.S2

The Profile Series v.S2 products from SARGENT integrate WiFi technology, a Prox reader, optional keypad and monitoring capabilities at the door. The v.S2 works with any open architecture access control system, providing centrally managed control without many of the costs, labor and infrastructure upgrades associated with a traditional hardwired system.

In addition to the ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 hardware, v.S2 products incorporate an HID-compatible 125 kHz proximity reader as well as sensors that monitor door position and request-to-exit activity. All communications to and from the locksets are conducted via open standard 802.11 b/g WiFi infrastructure eliminating the need to run cables from the door to the
access control system. Power is supplied by off-the-shelf batteries with an option to hard power the devices in remote locations.

JTE, Ltd. Introduces New Door Stop/Door Holder

J.T.E., Ltd. is proud to introduce a new door stop/door holder that is simple and practical. It is always where it needs to be and is unlikely to ever be "borrowed" as it permanently attaches to the surface outside the door. Installation is a snap with four fasteners. Our product is made from strong aluminum and powder coated for years of maintenance free service. The Arrest Star was designed for warehouse and commercial environments to eliminate damage to door, frame, hinges, etc. when requiring the door open. The Arrest Star installs on the floor and will work on doors with a gap of 3/4" to 2-3/4" under the door when swung open. The toe of your shoe operates the swing arm.  Both engaging and disengaging takes no more than one second. For more information visit www.arreststar.com.

SELECT Introduces Electrically Modified Full Surface Geared Continuous Hinge

Now maintenance supervisors and building owners can repair sagging doorways equipped with electrical devices for good with SELECT Hinges' new full surface geared continuous hinge modified for electrical door operation. SELECT's SL57 hinge, designed for retrofit applications on high-traffic doors, is the only full surface geared continuous hinge available that fully conceals the wiring to carry continuous electric current between the frame and the door — and the only hinge proven to last 50 years or more.

SELECT's process —"Patent-Pending" — allows wires to pass through holes and machined channels in the hinge leaves and through a modified thrust bearing. Wires can then be connected to any door-mounted electrical devices such as locks, latches, panic devices, alarms, cameras, I.D. readers and more. The bearing, tubing and the hinge's existing channel covers conceal wires from view after installation and protect wires from crimping. Previously there was no fully concealed method of passing electrical current from the frame to the door when using a full surface hinge, leaving few economical and long-lasting options to repair these entryways.

AOSI Offers Money-Saving Option for Distributors

Architectural Opening Services Inc., which previously worked on an exclusive, contract-based basis, will open its on-demand estimating and detailing service to the industry. AOSI's model is unique: Distributors use the service when — and only when — they need it, allowing clients to balance their work flow. The company, which has offices in Alabama and Maine, conducts most of its business online. Projects are output using ComSense Advantage and Microsoft software, and AOSI works with a company's existing logos, preambles and format so the finished product looks identical to a client's usual work.
